The Jungle House by Julia Donaldson

The Jungle House
by Julia Donaldson

This book has two stories in one. The first is about a family who has to move house, because their Granny is coming to live with them. The garden next door is like a jungle, much more interesting to explore than their own new garden. Then the children find a rusty key, which lets them into the jungle house. What will happen next?

The second story is about looking after other people’s pets when they go on holiday – but would you really want to look after a snake?!

I, Jack
by Patricia Finney

An excellent dog story, told by the dog, with some help from the cats. This book is strange, funny, a bit rude, and very doggy ! Getting to know a family from the dog's view is pretty interesting. Jack is a yellow labrador who meets Petra the beautiful girl dog next door. The dogs cause the apedogs (people) all kinds of problems. Jack is the hero at the end however, and no-one could fail to love this big happy dog !

Nip’s Tale
by Helen Armstrong

This is a delightful story told by a brave little dog called Nip.   He tells us how he and his doggy friend, Saluki, manage to escape from their cruel owner, and look for another family, with several adventures on the way: in the circus, on the canal and at a car boot sale.   This little dog will win you over, and you will wish that you could be the one to take him home

100% Pig
by Tanya Landman

Terence is a pig, but not an ordinary pink piggy. No, he is a pedigree, 100% pure, heavy Tamworth – with attitude to match. He loves his nice warm sty, and he LOVES his food. Life is just fine, as long as he gets his way.
Then he discovers that things are not going his way any more. He is going to be taken away. So to avoid this, he plans his escape. . .
This is a clever, amusing book, actually based on a true story when two Tamworth pigs really did escape from a sausage factory!
You can’t help liking this greedy pig. It is a very funny story indeed.
