Born to Run by Michael Morpurgo

People said it was a hard read, but it wasn't. It felt really real, so real that I went into it deeply. But it was sad.

Oakley, Lybster School

This book is funny, happy and sad. My favourite character is Becky because she loves horses and dogs and she is also a good liar. Michael Morpurgo is a fantastic author.

Izzy, Dochgarroch Primary

I loved this book because it had a lot of adventures but I thought it was sad and I did not like the ending.

Liam, Wick North Primary

I liked this book because it was a sad at parts and happy at some parts and I think it suited the given age group.

Claire, Inverness High

I loved this book. It was sad and happy at the same time. It made me cry because it was so sad. It was hard to think that the things in this book happen in reality. I liked the little picture of the dog in the corner that moves when you flick though it. It was great because I have met Michael Morpurgo before.

Laura, Torridon Primary

I loved this book because it wasn't just happy and adventurous. It was sad as well. Michael Morpurgo is my favourite author.

Keir, Lady Lovat Primary

It was sad in parts because one of the dogs died. I enjoyed the storyline and finished it very quickly. I like books written by Michael Morpurgo.

Matthew, Lady Lovat Primary

This was a great book. I love Michael Morpurgo he is a great author. The three different stories are really good. I could read it over and over. The end was good.

Kate, Grantown Primary

This is a page turning story that I could not put down. I could read it over and over again and I would still not get bored.   I luv this book sooo much. It was amazing reading the 3 lives of the dog. Michael Morpurgo is the best author in the world!!

Yandra, Grantown Primary

I liked the little dog in the bottom right hand corner that looked like it was running when you flicked through the pages I also liked the blurb on the back - it makes you want to take it read it straight away.

T.M., Inverness High

I really like this book because it tells you about a dog with many lives and names. One of his names was Best Mate. I thought it was a really sad book because one of his owners nearly died if it wasn't for him.

Melissa, Kirkhill Primary

My favourite part was when the little boy got to keep the puppy and called him Best Mate but the worst thing was that it got stolen and the story kept getting sad but I still loved it that’s why I’m giving it 5*****

Danielle, Hilton of Cadboll Primary

The characters could definitely be realistic. The main character was enormously fond of dogs and risked his life to save puppies being drowned. The worst part was when the dogs got kidnapped. I really liked reading this book.

Alexander, Lady Lovat Primary

I think this book is fantastic. It is very real. The worst parts of the story are when Alfie suddenly stops running and so does Bright eyes, also when Beaky and Bright eyes run away. The best part is when Patrick and Best Mate ran and ran in the park.

Catriona, Kirkhill Primary

I loved this book because it was a page turning story and you couldn’t put it down. It was sad and funny at the same time, and you felt as if you were a character because of the way the book was written. The best part was when he was happy and running about in the fields and the saddest bit it when he loses all his owners. I love the book and can't wait until the next one! I hadn't heard of the author before but I can tell you after reading his book he is amazing and I hope this book will win the Highland Book Award. I wish all books were like this.

Chanelle, Inverness High

I think it was sad how the dog was kidnapped. I think it is a very good book. I liked the way it seemed like a real story.

Sky, Hilton of Cadboll Primary

I think it was a fantastic book with lots of interesting parts. There wasn’t anything I did not like. I think Michael Morpurgo is a fantastic author and I can't wait for his next book to come out!!

Yandra, Grantown Primary
