The Witness by James Jauncey

The book was very exciting with a gripping plot and plausible characters. The political situation that the book is set in is a bit over the top and slightly hard to understand but it adds to the dark atmosphere of the book. The plot was slightly predictable in some places but there were quite a few surprises.

It was a very different book from what I would usually read but I seriously liked it, a lot! I didn't get into it to start with but once I did, I could hardly put down. It was a bit sad too, in places.

I really enjoyed The Witness. It was a powerful book that you could not put down. I liked it because it was set around our area and I recognized all the places. A very good read.

I liked this book because the characters were very inspiring. The ending was a bit confusing but it was excellent. I couldn't put it down as I wanted to find out more about Ninian, John and Lila.

I liked the part at the beginning when the soldiers are trespassing through the town but I didn't like the part when they were harming the soldiers. I liked the ending but thought it was quite sad and mournful.

I really liked this book because it was set in the Highlands so you knew where they were talking about. It had a good plot and was really interesting.

Interesting book set in the highlands with some of the action taking place in places many will recognise. The book is basically adventure packed and starts with quite a disturbing incident which is the key to the rest of the story. What would it be like to live in the Highlands under an oppressive government where ordinary people live in fear? The leader of the rebels comes from Fortrose and the main character who unintentionally becomes an outlaw with the power to change the situation is only 18. Can he succeed? Read the book to find out.

I am not yet finished reading this book yet but am looking forward to doing so. From what I have read so far I think I'm going to really like it. It is set in Scotland, which particularly caught my eye, as not many books are. This is a very unpredictable book therefore I am restricted in what I am able to say, but I have been introduced to the main character, 'John'. He was the witness of a massacre where he found only one survivor - a young boy. The two are on a quest to safety, closely missing the deadly guards.
I think that 'The Witness' is a very good book, which deserves a four star rating and is suitable for teenagers and adults. Some of the language used may not be suitable for those younger. On the whole, I am really enjoying this book and recommend it.
