EarlyBird Programmes
The National Autistic Society Earlybird
training is offered to families of a pre-school child ( up
to 5 1/2 ) with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
It is intended that this will help them understand their
child's autism, structure interactions to develop
communication and develop strategies to pre-empt problem
behaviours and/or to manage those which do occur.
Courses can be arranged when three or more families in one
area request it. It is hoped that courses will
run each year in Inverness or Ross-shire starting in January
and September each year.
Referral is through the central communication clinic based
at Morven House , Raigmoe Hospital.

EarlyBird Plus
The National Autistic Society Earlybird Plus is offered to
families who have a child aged 4 to 8 years with a recent
diagnosis of autistic spectrum disorder. The
aims are similar to those of the Earlybird programme.
Unlike the Earlybird programme, EB+ is a joint training
programme. Parents/carers attend with a professional (
usually but not exclusively from education) who work with
their child. Earlybird Plus can be
arranged when three or more families in one area request it
and where education, social work or health staff or can be
released to attend as well.
